An Introduction

My family originally hails from Alaska, well my husband does and all but one of our kids were born there (we have six of them), I've been bumped around here and there since I was 2. But alas, the question "Where are you from?" is a difficult one for me so I just fall back on Alaska as an answer. We transplanted to Idaho nearly five years ago and really loved it. We were in south-central so winters were mild and summers were HOT. We lived in a farming community and the changing of the landscape in each season and with the brush of each farmers tractor was so fun to watch and the town was small but not too small. But, maybe because of the constant moving my whole life and having never lived in any one place for more than four years, I started to get antsy. I tried not to be, I really would like to be rooted somewhere, someday, but I couldn't contain it. I guess in all the places I've lived, I just haven't found where I want to stay yet.

Then through my brother and sister in law, the idea of living and traveling around in an RV came to me and just blew up my whole world. You see, when I get an idea, it consumes me and I have the "go big or go home" mentality. So in July 2015, I brought it up to my husband after thinking about it every which way. He blames it all on me but it literally took like three days to convince him to go for it. We had already been talking about trying to move down south so we weren't attached to our house or anything so we said to heck with it, why not!? We put the house on the market the first week of September, had a full offer seven days later, bought an RV the end of that month, moved our residency back to Alaska, and hit the road officially November 1st.

Our Home on Wheels
Most people take months or years to plan this type of change, we've never been like most people though. When we moved out of Alaska, we flipped a coin and were driving through Canada down to the states six weeks later...it's how we roll.

So...here we are, a little over six months into and we've been to 12 states, eight or nine National Parks, suffered through hail, rain, wind and snow, enjoyed the sunshine, beach, mountains, desert, and visited with family and friends (new and old). It's been every kind of emotion at times but I wouldn't trade our experiences and time together for anything. We do look forward at times to when and where  we will settle down for good but for now we are enjoying this crazy life and all the ups and downs it brings us.

I love God, my family, cooking healthy meals, learning new things, homeschooling (most days), exploring new places, dreaming, planning, learning about, using, and making natural products, and gardening and raising animals (when we actually have a house). This blog will be a hodgepodge of those things and whatever else I throw in there as well as a place to document our journey to health and our travels.
